Aims

  • To develop familiarity with the structure and demands of the National Curriculum within the core subjects.
  • It also seeks to develop the role of the STA to support teachers in the classroom and children in their learning.
  • The course will introduce students to the: philosophy and practice of Primary Education.
  • National Curriculum framework.
  • teaching of reading at KS1/2.
  • teaching of writing at KS1/2.
  • development of language in general including listening and speaking.
  • development of mathematics.
  • application and development of mathematics and language in science.
  • development of all the above in the context of bilingual and monolingual classrooms.
