Aims

  • Opportunity to study another Slavonic language with particular emphasis on reading skills and communicative competence.

Content

  • To build on acquired basic competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening, grammatical knowledge and cultural awareness, with a view to developing social discourse skills and discuss general topics.

    • By the end of this module students should be able to convey ideas and discuss a wide range of general topics in fluent Croatian and Serbian and to demonstrate competence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

      Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

      • In order to gain competence in all the main language skills a variety of teaching and learning methods will be employed. A communicative approach with real-life situations will be adopted. Students will be expected to contribute actively and will work both independently and in groups and pairs using authentic materials. The course consists of two weekly classes which students are required to attend. Weekly written assignments will be set.
