Aims
- to allow the students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of physical activity as an essential component of a healthy lifestyle.
Content
- The emphasis in this module will be upon promoting an active lifestyle.
- Students will study research evidence relating to physical activity and will complete a research project in this area.
- Consideration will be given to risks associated with participation in physical activity, with the practical component of the module being centred upon outdoor and adventurous activities.
Learning Outcomes
Subject-specific Knowledge:
- On completion of the module, students should be able to:
- provide a rationale and justification for each individual to be physically active.
- identify potential health risks associated with participating in activity.
- identify and explain the potential determinants affecting physical activity in young people.
Subject-specific Skills:
- undertake and evaluate the monitoring of children's physical activity levels.
