Pre-requisites

Elementary Arabic 1 (MEIS1012) AND Elementary Arabic 2 (MEIS1022) OR equivalent.

Corequisites

Intermediate Written Arabic.

Aims

To develop the Arabic oral and aural language skills acquired in Year 1 and during the year abroad, and to achieve a higher level of competence in speaking and listening.

Content

The majority of the oral and aural components are organised around topics (also followed in 'Intermediate Written Arabic') using 'Standard Arabic: an Advanced Course' by James Dickins and Janet Watson.
These topics are designed to inform students about various aspects of the Arab world and have been chosen for their interest and general importance.
They are supplemented where appropriate by materials drawn from other sources (eg news broadcast tapes) in order to ensure that the material retains a contemporary and up-to-date flavour.
