Aims

To develop familiarity with more advanced aspects of Persian grammar and with various styles of written Persian, and to maintain spoken fluency.

Content

The module builds on the material introduced in Persian I.
The principle of communicative language teaching is continued in Persian II, with grammar acquisition 'emanating' from language situations.
At the end of the year, it is hoped that students will have acquired a large proportion of the vocabulary of educated reading and conversation.
Course material includes Persian high school texts, newspapers and some short stories.
The 'Modern Persian for Undergraduates' course book is also used.
