Prerequisites
- Historical Methods and Interpretation (HIST50130), two further postgraduate modules (totalling 60 credits), at least one of which must be chosen from those available on the list of modules for the MA in Medieval History. The other may have been chosed from that list; or, one may be taken (with the approval of the Director of the MA in Medieval History) from those offered by other MAs in the Department of History, or from amongst those offered by another Board of Studies in the University.

Aims
- To advance student skills in historical analysis and writing relevant to their field of study by facilitating the completion of a dissertation on an approved subject that is based on extensive secondary reading and some use of primary source maerial.
Content
- The dissertation will involve the detailed study of a particular historical problem which will be determined by the student and the supervisor under the direction of the Management Committee of the MA in Medieval History.
