Aims

  • Further study of leading issues in the history of the culture; and society of Modern Europe at an advanced level, extending work undertaken in Culture and Society in Modern Europe: France, Germany or Russia I, and normally leading to a dissertation in this field.

Content

  • The module will address selected aspects of the cultural and social history of Modern Europe, reflecting current debate on the subject, and the particular interests of the student. Students may choose to focus all their work on an individual country, or to study a particular theme from a comparative perspective.
