Aims
- To provide students with an up to date and advanced understanding of the issues that confront the financial management of multinational corporations. In addition it offers opportunities to students to further develop some key skills.
Content
- Opportunities and challenges of multinationals.
- Management of Currency risk.
- Foreign Direct Investment.
- International Capital Budgeting.
- Country Risk Analysis.
Learning Outcomes
- By the end of this module students will have:
- had the opportunities to appreciate the complexity and contradictions of the current academic literature in the field of financial management of multinational corporations;
- an advanced understanding of risks encountered by multinational companies and the process of managing these risks.
- By the end of this module students will have:
- demonstrated ability to learn and work independently in this area, exercising critical judgement and discrimination in the resolution of complex problematic situations;
- practised skills of problem solving and critical thinking.
Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to
the learning outcomes of the module
- Learning outcomes will be met through a combination of lectures, groupwork, case studies and discussion, supported by Distance Learning material. The written assignment will test students' understanding of relevant concepts and their ability to apply and interpret what they have learned to the analysis of a particular issue in depth.
