  • A-level grade C in Russian or equivalent.

Corequisites

  • Introduction to Russian Culture (RUSS1151).

  • Russian Language 1B (RUSS1042).

Aims

  • To consolidate skills in speaking and writing Russian grammatically and to enhance comprehension and vocabulary acquisition.

Content

  • The module is based on a selection of texts in differing registers, and on a grammar component developed in the department.
  • There are 3 strands:
  • Grammar.
  • Comprehension, Translation, Composition
  • Oral

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • This module is designed to extend students' knowledge of Russian vocabulary and grammar and develop fluency in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • The intention is to use the language actively and to instil a sense of awareness of its potential for expression.

      • This module will be taught by means of three weekly classes: a grammar class, a comprehension class and an oral class.
