Aims

  • The module aims to provide students with an understanding of the key issues involved in running a business or organisation, in one of the following contexts: private sector, public sector, non-profit organisation or community enterprise.
  • This will be achieved by working closely with staff in the School to develop a consultancy project. Therefore the module is fundamentally a practical and an applied course, allowing students to gain experience of consulting activity.
  • The module differs from the dissertation in the length of, and the remit of the written assessment and the fact that students will provide individual presentations and recommendations to real problems in business or organisations.

Content

  • Putting into practice the information developed from the other entrepreneurial modules - synthesising ideas, theory and practice to offer strategy and solutions for the participating business or organisations.
  • Applying problem solving skills to a consulting project with a business or an organisation - applying appropriate methodologies and knowledge in an entrepreneurial context.
  • The balance between theoretical and practical entrepreneurship.
