  • Production Operations Management: Project and production facility management.
  • Electromechanics: Power systems, synchronous machines, induction machines.

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • At the end of the year the student should be able demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, theory and application of Electromechanics.
  • To understand the factors determining business strategy and performance.
  • To appreciate the nature and scope of key production management issues.
Subject-specific Skills:
  • Selection and application of appropriate analysis techniques.
  • Observation and recording of experimental data.
  • Preparation of technical report.
  • Technical presentation.
  • The competent and safe use of laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and COSHH.
Key Skills:
  • Numerical skills.
  • Time and resource management.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • The courses in Introduction to Management, Production Operations Management, and Electromechanics are covered in lectures, and are reinforced in seminars and with problem sheets.
  • Assessment of all course elements is by written examination which enables each student to demonstrate an ability to analyse and solve new problems.
  • A laboratory programme provides formative, hands-on experience in electromagnetism.
