Aims
- A fast-paced module for proven linguists, aiming to bring beginners up to A level competence by the end of the year.
Content
- Teaching and practice of all essential grammatical structures, oral and written exercises in groups and individually and an introduction to translation skills.
- Oral practice in small groups.
Learning Outcomes
Subject-specific Knowledge:
- By the end of this module students should have a basic knowledge of Italian grammar,
Subject-specific Skills:
- Student should have acquired translation skills from and into Italian.
- They should also be able to conduct a simple conversation in Italian.
Key Skills:
- The ability to discuss topical and general issues.
- The development of general written and communication skills.
Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module
- This module is taught by means of three hours weekly for the teaching and practice of essential grammatical structures, translation skills, and oral practice. Students are required to attend all classes and are expected to prepare themselves for classes and participate actively in discussions.
