Corequisites

  • The School as a Learning Environment (EDUS1551) AND Understanding and Developing the Core Curriculum (EDUS1561).

Aims

  • This module aims to establish the individual student's understanding of his/her role as a Specialist Teacher Assistant, to develop and reinforce the concept of team participation and contribution and enable each STA student to work in a different educational environment to his/her norm.

Content

  • School experience assessed against a competency document.
  • It is expected that each of the competencies is completed over the course of the year.
  • Activities necessary to allow completion of the document will be negotiated between each student and his/her class teacher/mentor.
  • The School experience includes a six week period when students are required to pair up and work as a team in each others' school on three occasions.
  • Students will be required to describe, record and evaluate all processes, events and results relating to the six week Paired Experience period, from partner selection to planned input and implementation.
