Aims

  • A multi-faceted approach towards performance studies, incorporating an appropriate variety of both musicological and practical skills, to build upon the foundation gained in the Levels 1 and 2 modules in performance studies.
  • These skills include a knowledge and understanding of the repertoire and history of the chosen instrument or the voice.

Content

  • The module is tutorial-based.
  • This is supported by periodical performance workshops (seminars) and individual instrumental tuition.
  • The tutorials cover practical performance as well as subjects such as programming, stylistic issues, and current topics concerning performance practice.

The nature of performance-based studies, as in the case of Dissertations, involves a constant process of formative feedback through individual instruction and workshop-based seminars.
