  • The aim of the module is to enable participants to apply a framework for identifying opportunities and setting priorities for business transformation and improvement.

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • Have a critical appreciation of the value to the organization of an approach to IS strategy based on the creation of value - to customers and other stakeholders.
Subject-specific Skills:
  • Be able to apply a framework for a benefit driven approach to IS strategy.
  • Be able to use a range of advanced techniques to analyse the organization and identity opportunities for transformation and performance improvement enabled by Information Systems.
  • Have an increased critical insight into the business opportunities enabled by new technologies.
Key Skills:
  • Consistently apply an advanced level of knowledge and wider intellectual skills in this complex and specialized area of study.
  • Be adaptable, and show originality, insight, and critical and reflective abilities which can all be brought to bear on unpredictable and problematic situations.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • The learning outcomes will be addressed through a combination of lectures, case studies and seminars. The summative assessment by an Assignment, related to all aspects of the Information Systems strategy of the organization, designed to test both students' conceptual knowledge and understanding, and their ability to apply what they have learned.
