Aims

• Deepen students’ knowledge in their area of specialisation, including topics not otherwise covered in the Research Seminar.
• Provide opportunities for students to further develop and extend their skills in thinking critically and theoretically in their area of specialisation.

Content

• The literature, particularly that at the forefront of, students’ field of specialisation: macro-organisation theory; work, management and organisation, or behavioural decision-making.

Learning Outcomes

• have gained detailed knowledge and critical awareness of the nature and scope of advanced research across all areas of their specialisation;
• he able to demonstrate their knowledge of and critically review the most advanced scholarly literature in their discipline.

• be able to undertake critical appraisal of relevant literature, and apply critical judgement and discrimination;
• have a detailed understanding of methods employed for research and advanced academic enquiry in the field.

• have the ability to critically review a specialised area of knowledge and apply it in innovative ways in complex situations;
• have the capacity for sustained independent work and learning at an advanced level and the ability to learn through critical reflection on practice and experience;
• be able to think independently, including problem-solving ability and the ability to make informed judgements on complex issues in specialist fields

• A directed reading and consultation format will contribute to achieving the aims and learning outcomes of this module. Summative assessment by written examination will test students’ understanding of the literature in their area of specialization, in particular their ability to critically assess that literature.
