Content
- All students progressing to teaching are expected to arrange regular observation sessions in primary schools. This module will provide the opportunity for students to discuss their observations and develop reflective skills through the use of a reflective diary and the introduction of specific reflective techniques such as Shon's learning cycle.

- be aware of classroom management issues facing teachers
- be able to identify and discuss some successful and unsuccessful teaching strategies used by teachers

- communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- have demonstrated an ability to work with others
- have improved their own learning and performance through reflective practice
- Assignment 1 covers SK1, SS 1-3 and KS 1-3
- Assignment 2 covers SK1, SS 1-3 and KS 1-3
Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module
- Students will be expected to visit a primary school on a regular basis and maintain a diary of observations.
- Understanding of primary school functions and classroom issues will be developed through group discussions and presentations of observations and assessment in the presentation with discussion.
- Reflective skills will be introduced through whole class activities, group discussions and the writing of a reflective diary.
- Reflective skills will be developed through individual tutorial interviews, group discussion and improvement of the reflective diary.
- Reflective skills will be assessed by the completion of a reflective writing task, and a presentation and discussion with members of the Education department.

Formative Assessment:
Reflective diary, individual tutor discussions, whole class presentations
■ Attendance at all activities marked with this symbol will be monitored. Students who fail to attend these activities, or to complete the summative or formative assessment specified above, will be subject to the procedures defined in the University's General Regulation V, and may be required to leave the University
