Content
- The module will provide an opportunity to read texts from fiction, non-fiction and media.
- These texts will provide the basis for students to engage in discussions to develop their ability to explain, describe, narrate and explore.
- These texts will provide the basis for students to produce written work which uses standard English.

- Write in Standard English appropriate to purpose, medium and audience
- Read with understanding and the ability to analyse materials in context
- Use Standard English with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation

- be able to communicate effectively and accurately in both writing and orally
- be able to demonstrate effective reading skills
- begin to be able to demonstrate literacy analysis

- The module will provide an opportunity to read texts from fiction, non-fiction and media.
- These texts will provide the basis for students to engage in discussions to develop their ability to explain, describe, narrate and explore.
- These texts will provide the basis for students to produce written work which uses Standard English.
- Teaching will be in the form of tutor led classes and discussions.
- Learning, understanding and consolidation will take place through the use of group work, discussions, tutorials and students' own study.
- Knowledge and skills will be assessed by a summative assignment, an examination and a formative oral presenation.
