  • To help students develop an understanding of Christian Doctrine and an appreciation of its importance To help students articulate the Christian faith clearly To provide a foundation for theological reflection on contemporary issues

  • The Nature of Christ
  • The Cross, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ
  • The Holy Spirit
  • The Kingdom of God, the Mission of God and the Church
  • Baptism, Eucharist, Ministry
  • The Last Things

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • By the end of the module students will:
  • have a working knowledge of Christian Doctrine
  • appreciate factors which have contributed to its development and expression in a variety of contexts
Subject-specific Skills:
  • comment critically on the doctrines and contemporary approaches to them
Key Skills:
  • be able to commend and defend Christian believing in a variety of settings
  • begin to engage more deeply in theological reflection upon personal and cultural issues
