Aims

  • To provide students with experience of, and confidence in, the execution of business consultancy Industry projects.

Content

  • Case Studies of Design and Manufacturing Techniques;
  • For full-time students:
  • One in-company mini-project (week-long, paired);
  • Two in-company industrial projects (two-week, paired).
  • For part-time students:
  • One in-company mini-project (equivalent length, single);
  • Two in-company industrial projects (equivalent length, single).

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • Appreciation of appropriate methodologies in a factory or design office environment;
Subject-specific Skills:
  • The ability to plan and manage an investigation of an industrial process or product design;
  • The ability to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from the course work;
  • The ability to analyse data and recommend solutions appropriate to the industrial tasks;
Key Skills:
  • To reffectively communicate the findings of the projects by written reports.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • In-Company project learning.
  • Oral presentations will be given in-company.
  • Students give motivational written report.
