Aims
- To provide students with a general introduction to the psychological explanations and processes underlying human behaviour.
- To provide an awareness of the diversity, applications and limitations of psychological knowledge.
- To familiarise students with the scientific approach to collecting and interpreting data.

- Psychology as a science
- Research Methods

- By the end of the programme students will have:
- 1. Knowledge of a range of foundational subject concepts
- 2. Knowledge of a range of relevant research methods
- 3. Knowledge of a range of relevant vocabulary

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module
- Theory, initial concepts and research techniques will be introduced during teaching sessions
- Much of the learning, understanding and consolidation will take place through the use of structured exercises, group work and discussions during tutorials and students' own time
- Knowledge and understanding of concepts will be assessed by an invigilated test.

Throughout the course weekly tests and exercises will be undertaken. Students can also request one-to-one meetings.
