• To enable students to understand, apply and critically appraise the fundamental knowledge and techniques that underpin management accounting.

Learning Outcomes

• On completion of this module students should:
• Have knowledge of the costs associated with the production of products and provision of services.
• Have knowledge of different methods of budgeting.
• Have knowledge of different management decision-making techniques.

• On completion of this module students should:
• Be able to select appropriate budgeting approaches and methods and prepare budgets.
• Be able to select appropriate performance measures and calculate differences between actual performance and standards or budgets.
• Be able to identify and calculate relevant data for use in management decision making.

• Teaching is by lectures and seminars. Learning takes place through attendance at lectures, preparation for, and participation in seminars and independent study.
• Formative assessment is by means of a practice test.
• Summative assessment is by means of a written examination.
