Aims

  • To develop knowledge and analytical skills in advanced macroeconomics.

Content

  • Advanced topics may be drawn from:
  • growth theory
  • business cycle theory: DSGE modelling
  • monetary theory
  • and their respective applications

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • be able to interpret scholarly literature in advanced macroeconomics;
  • have sufficient familiarity with the relevant current academic literature to identify open questions for their own research.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • Teaching is by lectures, workshops and computer practicals. Learning takes place through attendance at lectures, preparation for and participation in workshops and practicals, and private study.
  • Formative assessment is by means of one exercise.
  • Summative assessment is by means of a written examination and a project.
