Aims

  • To contribute to the overall aims of the programme by developing students' understanding of the nature of leadership and management in organisations.
  • To develop knowledge and understanding at an advanced level of key issues in the conceptualisation and practice of leadership and management.
  • To develop a critical understanding of various contemporary processes and practices relating to human resource management.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • The module will involve a mixture of workshops involving lecture input, individual and group work and feedback, and external guest speakers, supported by guided reading.
  • Formative assessment will consist of a group exercise based on one of the case studies. Findings will be presented in class and feedback will be received as a group. The formative assessment will give the students experience of analysing a case using the theories and frameworks discussed in class.
  • Summative assessment will consist of a case study analysis. This will test students' understanding of relevant concepts and their ability to apply and interpret what they have learned to analyse a particular issue in-depth and will enable students to reflect on their learning and how they will apply it in practice..

Formative Assessment:
