Aims
- To develop specialist knowledge of a relevant contemporary behavioural science topic
- To critically analyse the topic chosen including of how extant theories and empirical work can be used to address specific behavioural science challenges
Content
- In this module, learners conduct an independent extended project on a relevant behavioural science topic. The topic will be discussed and agreed with an academic member of staff who will supervise the project. However, the project topic must be substantively different from that covered in the Behavioural Science Dissertation. The project may take the form of a narrative or systematic literature review, a short strategic case analysis, meta-analysis, or the development of a new theoretical model. Hence, the Extended Project will provide students with an opportunity to undertake a deep dive into a specific behavioural science topic without the need to collect original empirical data.
Learning Outcomes
Subject-specific Knowledge:
- To develop specialist knowledge of a relevant contemporary behavioural science topic.
- To develop a sound understanding of the application of behavioural science theories and methods to social and/or organisational challenges.
Subject-specific Skills:
- Ability to apply behavioural science knowledge to address specific challenges.
Key Skills:
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good IT skills in word processing
- Ability to work independently in scholarship and research within broad guidelines
Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module
- This module will be delivered by the Department of Psychology
- The module will follow a distant learning approach.
- The module will be conducted under academic supervision, with at least 9 hours online or in person supervision.
- Live webinars with the module leader will be delivered throughout the course to facilitate summative assessment. Webinars will be recorded for students who cannot attend due to work commitments.
- The module is assessed by a written project (maximum 2,500 words).
