Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • Teaching will consist of 8 two-hour workshops and 8 one-hour seminars. These workshops and seminars combine a lecture-style tutor-input approach with seminar discussions and group work. An additional eight hours will be allocated to student-led peer revision and reading groups. During workshops, the tutor will present some of the key theories, concepts, debates, approaches and practices of intercultural and international education through a series of key topics. Students are expected to engage with the themes and issues covered through interaction and critical discussion, student presentations of the literature and group work activities.
  • Formative feedback will be given throughout the course. Various seminar sessions will focus on different components of the summative assessments, providing training and verbal feedback on students' individual work, and discuss links with the module content and learning outcomes.
  • The summative assignment consists of a digital storytelling portfolio which encompasses a 5-8 minutes' long multimedia digital story exploring a chosen topic, and a 2500-word critical reflection essay reflecting on the making of the digital story, as informed by theories and empirical literature based on topics explored in the module. The specific topic is chosen by the students but has to be directly related to the module topics, and aligned with the module learning outcomes.
