Aims
- A multi-faceted approach towards performance studies, incorporating an appropriate variety of both musicological and practical skills, to build upon the foundation gained in the Levels 1 and 2 modules in performance studies.
- These skills include a knowledge and understanding of the repertoire and history of the chosen instrument or the voice.
Content
- The module is tutorial-based.
- This is supported by periodical performance workshops (seminars) and individual instrumental tuition.
- The tutorials cover practical performance as well as subjects such as programming, stylistic issues, and current topics concerning performance practice.
Learning Outcomes
- In terms of generic skills, to be able to demonstrate competence in the practice of interpreting and executing musical ideas in a public arena.
- To be able to demonstrate: an understanding of the chosen repertoire, an ability to organise appropriate ideas and present the results through performance in a coherent and communicable form.
- an advanced measure of personal expression and creativity in practical music making.
